Eight-Spotted Forester Moth

Alypia octomaculata

Description:

Solid black with large white spots on fore and hind wings top and bottom. Rust Orange tufts on forelegs. Creamy yellow bands along sides of top of thorax.

Habitat:

Spotted during daylight, nectaring on Gooseneck Loosestrife (Lysimachia clethroides) in flower bed in front of my house.

Notes:

These are known for day flight.
