Sensitive Briar

Description:

Sensitive Briar gets its name both from the stickers on the stems, but also from the fact that the leaves react by closing when touched. The second picture shows the plant as I found it. The third photo shows the leaves as they rapidly respond to being disturbed.

USA: AL , FL , GA , KY , LA , MS , NC , SC , TN , TX , VA Native Distribution: IL to SD & s.e. CO, s. to TX Native Habitat: Prairies; ravines; open woods
