Description:

"Sun Spiders" or "Camel Spiders" are usually found on the ground in hot dry environments. This one was up in the leaves of a large bush feeding on a Click Beetle. This area is hot but not particularly dry, the forest is tropical with dry-wet seasons. It is not desert and it was not on the ground. About 2 cm long. Order Solifugae, Class Arachnida. There are 12 families with more than 1000 species.

Habitat:

Found on bushes along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, Km 18.5, 1164 meters.
