"Sun Spiders" or "Camel Spiders" are usually found on the ground in hot dry environments. This one was up in the leaves of a large bush feeding on a Click Beetle. This area is hot but not particularly dry, the forest is tropical with dry-wet seasons. It is not desert and it was not on the ground. About 2 cm long. Order Solifugae, Class Arachnida. There are 12 families with more than 1000 species.
Found on bushes along the highway between San Cristobal de Las Casas and Tuxtla Gutierrez, Km 18.5, 1164 meters.

Thank you Felix. A surprise for me too, I always think of them as desert creatures.
Great photos! Didn't know they could be found in this part of the world.
