Anacridium aegyptium
Quite large and impressive locust, with body length of some 5 to 6 cm - further 1,5 cm to be added to full length when resting (wing tips). Short antennae. This specimen was marbled brown and dark-green; while it occurs in diverse coloring. The key characteristic for IDing was these stripped eyes, and the dorsal orange stripe on pronotum.
Here, observed in the middle of the rural road/pathway through the park, and close to river Krka, in magnificent Krka NP in Croatia. In this highly protected area, Krka river forms a series of waterfalls and lakes; it is surrounded by a magnificent dense broad-leaved forest, and its shallow coastal waters are rich in vegetation.
