Superb Fairy Wren

Malurus cyaneus

Description:

Spotting 3500 - The one bird I most wanted to see in Aus. The fairy wren is a small brightly colored and rather cheeky bird found in Eastern Australia from Qld to SA. Commonly found in thickets of scrub

Habitat:

12 apostles national park

Notes:

I heard it before I saw it and thought it sounded wrenlike and thus had to hunt it down. Of course, it popped out to tease me and then disappeared. In the end we got many nice views of this active little bird.
