Mason or potter wasp egg case

Eumenes

Description:

This reminds me of a mantis egg case but I'm unsure. It was on a plant that normally grows in water; due to drought, the lake has receded and many plants are now "on shore". These plants grow in large clusters and none of the others had something like this.

Habitat:

Jordan Lake

Thanks, Livan - BugGuide had just told me the same thing. It's always nice to learn something new!

That's a Mason/Potter Wasp nest. They seal their larva in the little clay pots with food.
