Myadestes townsendi
Medium size bird, overall gray with buffy patch on wing. White on wing tips and outer tail feathers. Bold eye ring. Dark, short bill. Most of the Spring and Summer is found in higher elevations. In Winter it is found in lower.
Since it feeds on insects and Juniper berries it would be found near Junipers. This one was found in mixed woodland and open fields. It was found near a cattle pond.

Don't know. The first part is named after John Kirk Townsend. I am guessing because it's a solitary type of bird. It was found with American Pipits but only one Solitaire.
Looks like some thought was put into it. Is there a story behind it?
Thanks, it is an interesting name too
This bird has a lovely name.
