Orange and black butterfly displaying Mullerian mimicry of the monarch butterfly (Danaus plexippus). The black postmedian line that crosses the veins of the hindwing distinguish this butterfly from the monarch.
Resting on dried flowers/seedheads of a plant in a drainage ditch near a sunlit roadside.
This specimen is a bit battered and beaten!
