Great Blue Heron

Ardea herodias

Description:

stands motionless on the rocks; the largest of the North American herons with long legs, a sinuous neck, and thick, daggerlike bill; blue-grey color; maybe 50 inches tall with 70 inch wing span

Habitat:

on the rocks of storm drainage creek in the center of city; I could think of better places to fish than this polluted creek near busy road but we are happy to see it surviving

Notes:

a common majestic sight year round
