Axolotl (Melanoid)

Ambystoma mexicanum

Description:

A melanistic axolotl, one of my favorite species on the planet. Axolotls are almost completely extinct in the wild, native to only two lakes in Mexico City, Mexico. Axolotls are fully aquatic, neotenic salamanders and as such never morph and become terrestrial. Axolotls also possess incredible regeneration powers, they can survive limb loss, having parts of their brains destroyed, and even can cure them-self of cancer. Incredible creatures.

Habitat:

Axolotls are native to Mexico but there aren't any left in the wild. Or if there are there are very VERY few of them.
