Hemileuca eglanterina
At higher altitudes these moths take two summers to become adults. The first four pictures show a fully developed sheep moth. The final picture shows a moth in mid-development that will require another winter in a cocoon underground.
The moths were located near a bush of little wild rose (Rosa gymnocarpa) at Bohemia Mountain in Lane County, Oregon.
