Muscovy Duck (wild)

Cairina moschata

Description:

Red, warty eyepatch that also serves as a sort of unibrow. White patch on neck. The wings when folded show a greenish gloss and have white tips. The beak has orange and dark, unequal bands.

Habitat:

Driving on the Durgapur Expressway we had stopped for a cup of tea. Alongside the highway runs a wide band of water...this bird was the sole soul swimming in an unafraid manner. I thought it was a migratory bird...but would it be alone? And do Muscovies migrate???

Notes:

My ID is solely based on the warty eye- patch.
