Fruit-piercing Moth

Gonodonta pyrgo

Description:

Small nocturnal moths with white leading edge on the wings.

Habitat:

Mango tree with ripe mangoes.

Notes:

These started showing up in mass as the mangos started to ripen. They were feeding off of a sticky sap the came out of the mangos and directly on the mangos that had cracked open.

Erebidae, Calpinae, Calpini, Gonodonta pyrgo. Nice series of the moth sitting on a fruit!
