Bean Pod Borer Moth

Maruca vitrata

Description:

Brown and white moth that sits almost upright on its first two pair of legs. The antennae are held flat against the back. This is a pantropical insect pest of leguminous crops, with the larvae feeding on the flower-buds, flowers and young pods.

Habitat:

Came to an ultraviolet light in the garden, San Cristobal de Las Casas, 2,200 meters.
