Lynx canadensis
Sitting on the edge of the forest. It sat still for a while while we drove by and photographed it, and I was lucky enough to snap a yawn, albeit a fuzzy photograph of one. They are usually very secretive, so I was lucky to get such a good look at it.
Seen on the side of the Alaskan Highway in an area with no nearby buildings or houses

Congratulations Machi, your Canada Lynx is our Spotting of the Day:
"A usually elusive inhabitant of forests across much of Canada and a few neighboring US states, a Canada Lynx (Lynx canadensis) sits for a pose along the Alaskan Highway in our Spotting of the Day. The Canada Lynx is a specialist predator, and its distribution closely parallels that of its primary prey, the Snowshoe Hare (Lepus americanus)".
