Amanita marmorata
Several small white mushrooms within an area of about ¼ square meter along a trail. Superficial observations: caps, stipe and gills white. Gills crowded, as would be expected since caps, convex or bell-shaped, 1 - 1½ inches wide and slightly less tall, were apparently unopened. White scales or veil remnants were observed on caps in some cases. Stipes thick, 2 inches or less long, noticeably bulbous; bulbs ½ to perhaps ⅔ the size of a golf ball.
Lowland insular tropical mesic mixed forest.
Spotted along the Upper Waimano Trail in south central Oahu about a half mile from the trailhead during a group hike, so it was not possible to make detailed observations, particularly of the gills. ID based on information in a local mushroom guide. See also Mushroom Observer: http://mushroomobserver.org/242375

Vlad, I'm not good with any mushrooms, so I'm glad to receive help, as I did in this case, via Mushroom Observer. Incidentally, this species is originally Australian and traveled to Hawaii as a stowaway on imported Eucalyptus.
I'm not that good with the North American mushroom species, but yes, I think you are right.
Vlad, the visual similarities between this spotting and A. abrupta are obvious, but I kind find that the latter has been reported in Hawaii.
Amanita Abrupta maybe?
