White-throated kingfisher

Halcyon smyrnensis

Description:

Rather large kingfisher, approx 30cm in length. Bright-blue wing covers, buff head and white chest and chin, with large eyes and a red stork-like bill.

Habitat:

Hill and sparingly wooded area in Nepal.

Notes:

Oups - this kingfisher was wrongly IDed as Stork-billed kingfisher for quite some time... and I have no idea why I made such mistake; the two species don't look alike at all... Sorry.
