Monarch Butterfly chrysalis

Danaus plexippus

Description:

Monarch butterfly chrysalis I raised from an egg.

Habitat:

Milkweed plant, unplowed field, rural deciduous area, Clermont County

Notes:

Fun fact: The gold spots on the chrysalis are breathing holes. I tried to link to a YouTube video of this caterpillar pupating in the "add a video" section, but it kept saying "no longer available." Not sure why, because it is, and it's right here: https://youtu.be/8ifbUrvGKQA
