Moth

Description:

I've never seen a moth quite like this one. About 2.5 cm long, pale gray and speckled all over with tiny black tips to its hairs. The underside of the upper wings has some bright orange and the face and antennae are orange. The eyes were highly reflective, making them look like they are ringed in black. The moth looks more like an owl than a moth! May be a small Silk Moth?

Habitat:

Garden lights, semi-rural residential area of San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico 2,200 meters.
