Brown Anole

Anolis sagrei

Description:

At 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon, I looked out of the front window, that was on the right side of the front door. I spotted a large reptile, resting on a wall, on the outside of my house. This large reptile, was four feet away, from this window. I opened the front door very quietly, so I would not startle this large reptile. I got the front door opened, and I was about three feet away from this large reptile, and I then started to take some photos. This reptile, did not move. I got closer to this large reptile, and I started to take some more photos. I was now, two feet away, from this large reptile. This large reptile, still did not move. I got closer to this large reptile, and I took some more photos. I was about one foot away now. Suddenly, this large reptile, jumped onto the ground. I took some photos of this large reptile, resting on the ground. About one minute later, this large reptile, disappeared into the bushes. This large reptile, had a long, thin tail. The end of its tail, was pointed. This large reptile, had a reddish-orange and yellow dewlap. This large reptile, was opening and closing its dewlap, while it was resting on this outside wall, of my house. The opening and closing of its dewlap, lasted about forty five seconds. A dewlap, is a flap of skin, that hangs beneath the neck of many animals. Male anoles, have a pink or red dewlap, or flap of skin hanging in an arc from the neck region, which they can inflate during courtship and aggression displays.

Habitat:

I spotted this large reptile, resting on a wall, on the outside of my house.

Notes:

I spotted this large reptile, resting on a wall, on the outside of my house, at 4:30 p.m. in the afternoon. The color of its dewlap, was reddish-orange and yellow.
