Very tiny, strange "mushroom" on capybara feces, Isla Yacyretá, Paraguay. The palm-tree-like "cap" is only 1.7 mm in diameter, stem 0.9 mm diameter, and the total height of this "mushroom" is 3 mm. They don't get any bigger than this (I observed about 20 or 30 of them for several months in the laboratory).
Grows on capybara feces, collected in a disturbed habitat near a small pond in the "zona de préstamo", Isla Yacyretá, Paraguay. The feces were collected on 3 V 2010, the mushroom was photographed in the laboratory of the Museo Nacional de Historia Natural del Paraguay, a month later on 2 VI 2010. According to most maps, this site is technically in Departamento Itapúa, not Misiones.
