"This beautiful Ithomeis Metalmark (Ithomeis aurantica) is our Spotting of the Day! Ithomeis aurantica (butterfly family Riodinidae) is found in Guyana, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru. It was named by explorer and naturalist Henry Walter Bates, who provided the first scientific account of mimicry in animals.

Riodinidae, Riodininae, Riodinini, Ithomeis aurantia. Superb!! Close to the ssp. Corena from Colombia. The other ones look quite different.
