Jewel Beetle

Melobasis purpurascens

Description:

small beetle (bug) black with metallic green spots. Around 1 cm in length (0.39 inches)

Habitat:

First time as far as I can recall ever seeing this type of beetle (bug). It was sitting on a palm frond in my garden

Notes:

An ID would be great if anyone knows. Thank you

Nick Monahan has it as M. purpurascens - I found also the species names M. innocua:

which, for my eye, are all the same species.
