Congratulations Doc, this stunning geometer moth is our Spotting of the Day! You have certainly brought back visual treasures from your back-breaking trip: thank you!

"It dazzles with an intricate mix of colors and patterns! This geometrid moth (Macrohastina gemmifera) is our Spotting of the Day. There are only three species in the genus Macrohastina (Subfamily: Larentiinae; Tribe: Asthenini), all found in Asia. This moth was spotted by Dr. Namgyal T. Sherpa in a remote part of the state of Sikkim, India. Sikkim is considered an ecological hotspot of the lower Himalayas; its forested regions are home to a diverse fauna and flora across a range of altitudes and climates. Sikkim has a rich diversity of arthropods, with many to still be discovered. Dr. Namgyal T. Sherpa's collection on Project Noah includes a large number of unidentified moths. Check it out! https://buff.ly/2As5i0C
With thanks to Manoj Samuel Grg for help with identification".
