African touch-me-not

Impatiens walleriana

Description:

The blossom is about 2 1/3 inches across. The plant is about 8 inches tall.

Habitat:

Moist environment. This one is in a garden, but it is a native plant.

Notes:

Pretty flower. I found a great site for looking up Impatiens. See the reference URL. Madagascar has 100's of native Impatiens. I know I have included some possible cultivars in my pictures. This Island does have an extraordinary number of native plants. Come and see them. I found the picture of this flower under the Flickr pictures on the 3rd or fourth page. Looking under images Balsaminaceae on the the non-edu website I found the genus and species. Then looking under African touch-me-not or the Genus and species yields more pictures.
