Iguanas, Green Iguanas

Genus Iguana

Description:

Green iguanas have many excellent interesting adaptations. Green iguanas have good senses of hearing and smell, and superb vision. Their long tail is also quite sharp, and is snapped in the air as a defense mechanism. The tail can also break off if caught by a predator, but grows back without permanant damage.

Habitat:

The green iguana is a reptile found throughout Central and South America and some areas of Mexico. Iguanas live in tropical rainforest areas, generally in lower altitudes in areas near water sources, such as rivers or streams. They spend most of their time high in the forest canopy, about 40-50 feet above the ground

Notes:

I happen to know that this Iguana is a female. Female iguanas are generally bigger than male Iguanas. I took this pictures at the annual Catholic event blessing of the animals, Olvera street, Los Angeles, California US.

This is my beautiful girl Lola Granola at the annual Blessing of the Animal on Olvera Street . Lola shares the house with two rescued males , Tiny Tim and Robby Meister. Living with them is such an adventure every day . Iguanas have pronounced personalities and Lola is very queenly !
