Barn Swallows (Leaving Their Nests)

Hirundo rustica

Description:

Series: I found several of these Barn Swallow nests under a pavilion roof overhang in a local marshland park. It looked as if several fledgling/juveniles were leaving or had just recently left their nests. Some were laying on the boardwalk chirping for their mother; some were trying to fly short distances while others looked like they just crash landed. The parent swallows were were busy making food runs as well as doing security by circling around when someone would walk by.

Habitat:

Marshland Park
