Borneo slow loris

Nycticebus coucang

Description:

Habitat:

I was doing a re-survey of the land for development and spotted the subject nearby. We hang some bananas on different spot and leave it for the next day. Very fortunate it was still there for me. I wanted to bring it home for pet but failed to catch.

I would hope they mean shooting with a camera and not with a weapon of any sort!

Bong please tell people not to shoot them - "The species is listed as "Vulnerable" on the IUCN Red List. ... It also suffers from habitat loss, which has been severe in the areas in which it is found." - Wikipedia

Bong it is too sad when humans destroy the home of this creature. If you must catch it please put it in a better part of the forest - not kept as a pet.

Thanks for your quick response, Bong! I have helped you a bit by placing the reference to the wikipedia page in the reference section and moved your habitat information to the habitat section. I realize that it can sometimes be confusing to know exactly where to place the information.

Thank you for the additional information, Bong Ambutong. Could you please add the link to the Wikipedia page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slow_loris) and then remove the lengthy text from the habitat section and instead add the information about where you spotted it in that section? Although I can imagine you all found it very attractive, it is actually good that you were not able to catch it for a pet. Most slow loris species are listed as endangered or vulnerable by IUCN and they should not be removed from the wild at all. I'm not sure about the law in Malaysia, but it also may be illegal to take them from the wild. Please don't try to catch one. Thanks.

This is a wonderful spotting. You copied a lot of information in the habitat section which is very interesting. However, this section is to tell us where you saw the animal. Perhaps you could say whether it was in a forest or in a zoo?

Outstanding !
