Wow you are really close. We couldn't get so close as there was a lot of debris between the boat and the tree the bats were on...

What lovely little critters.

Ashish, there is a whole subset of bats called 'micro-bats'. Tasmania, where I live only has micro-bats, whereas on the mainland they have bats so large they are call "flying foxes". Bats comprise one-fifth of all the mammals in the world.

In Costa Rica there are also little white bats that sleep by wrapping themselves on banana leaves..a pity I did not get a pic of these :-)
