Clouded Sulpher

Colias philodice Godart

Description:

This was a small butterfly that appeared to be light green in color (ventral view), with several small eyespots surrounded with light and dark brown markings. Wings appear to have a light orange or tan border. Also appears to have several light tan colored spots on wings.

Notes:

I believe this may be a type of sulphur butterfly. Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thank you for your input Robert! When I was researching online I thought perhaps an Orange Sulphur, but without this little guy opening its wings it does make identification difficult. Thanks again.

I think it may be a male Cloudless Sulphur, or possible Orange Sulphur. its a tough one. Beautiful shot! I'm using my Kaufman Field Guide to Butterflies, North America.
