Aster umbellatus
A flat cluster of creamy white flower heads with a yellow center. Height: 2.5 ft.
Spotted along an open meadow trail north of Chippewa Picnic Area on Hwy 26.
Aster is Latin for "star." Once the ray flowers are shed, the seedhead and flattened bracts look like stars.
