Crab Spider Molting

Thomisidae

Description:

Small crab spider approximately 1/4". This one was molting, so colors were not clear. More than likely will be a shade of yellow to yellow/green.

Habitat:

Woodland habitat.

Notes:

This was one of my favorite spottings this year, and thanks to stephanierickman, because she actually found it. We caught this spider molting from beginning to end. At first I couldn't really tell what it was. It was pulsing, and slowing moving outward, but I figured it out somewhere in the process. Once it fully emerged, the legs were like jelly. It would sit on the leaf, fully extend its legs for a couple of seconds, and then bend them back. It kept repeating this. This was a fun find.
