take more photos. Agrocybe praecox usually occurs in grassy areas while Agrocybe "dura" occurs in wood chip mulch. Agrocybe praecox has a partial veil and an annulus, sometimes, while A. dura does not. Other agrocybes with a veil and annulus include A. acericola, but there are others. Bet you can figure it out.

I said praecox for sure, but after reading some more about the various agrocybes, I'm not sure. I'm going to look at a few more tomorrow. Maybe even agrocybe dura? I did notice some older ones that had cracked caps.

another possibility: Agrocybe acericola. It has a large, pendant annulus, as well as a rusty brown spore print. Pholiotas usually have a yellow-brown spore print. Pholiota veris is a slight mushroom whereas Agrocybe acericola is much more substantial, like an Agrocybe praecox. The Pholiota cap is hygrophanous - it lightens as it ages or dries. The Agrocybe cap is not hygrophanous. Which is it?

It does have a rusty brown spore print and an umbo that's slightly darker than the cap. When young the cap was slightly wrinkled in the center.

maybe it's brown spored - could it be something like Pholiota veris???
