Penicillium digitatum
( A White Mold, On A Tangerine ) Last week, I bought a bag of tangerines. I put the bag of tangerines, in a fruit bowl. This morning, there were three tangerines, left in the fruit bowl. Two tangerines were healthy, and one tangerine, had a white mold on it. The white mold, was one and three fourths of an inch wide, and one and one fourths of an inch high. After I took some photos of this white mold, I threw this tangerine away.
I found this white mold, on one of the tangerines, that was in the fruit bowl.
At 9:00 a.m. in the morning, I spotted one tangerine, that was resting inside the fruit bowl, that had a lot of white mold on it. This tangerine with the white mold on it, was unfit to eat, and had to be thrown out.

Thanks for your help, Christine Y.
Could be Penicillium sp. I think the infection initially starts with white mycelium and then turns green later. Might also be Phytophthora sp. though, which can form white mycelium on the rind when humidity is high. Or, maybe something else? I've heard that you can wipe the mold off with vinegar, and then peel and eat the fruit as long as there is no mold on the flesh, but I agree with throwing it out instead just to be safe! Great notes :)
