Tonicella lineata
Approx 4 inches long and 1-2 inches wide, brown color with 8 body sections.
Found embedded in hard rock on the shore in Cozumel Mexico. There were several in the area.
Reminds me of a fossil trilobite(?)

Tonicella lineata has distinctive lines down its valves and does not have a hairy girdle such as the one you found. It is also much more brightly colored. I think the key to narrowing down your search for the species might be the hairy girdle
Thanks Machi and MrsPbio, never seen one of these befire.
I'm wondering what those small white things are that look like rice......?
Chiton. Interesting creatures. Nice find!
It is a chiton. The hairy-looking edges might help in finding the species as not all chitons have that.
