Colorful bird mainly black with red and yellow caps on wings, nape of male bird's neck tends to have brown speckles common throughout Florida and south eastern united states. females resemble savannah sparrows and look nothing alike to males in coloration.
swamp areas, cattails, rivers, fairly open places near water, ect.
green cay wetlands friendly birds will perch on railing.

you gotta love that call... the trick to getting these guys to pose so well is to wait till there in the middle of calling when they fluff out there feathers.

thanks guys! unfortunately my camera does not take videos if i did have a video camera it would have to have a good 400 mm lens, if you could get a video of one singing they are magnificent!

actually while i took this photo i was waiting for this female harrier to come out from behind a nearby bush and was getting bored so i started trying to get blackbird and american bittern photos haha
