Congratulations Paul, your Rufous-collared Sparrow is our Spotting of the Day!

Just a touch of color! We love this delicate image of a Rufous-collared Sparrow (Zonotrichia capensis), our Spotting of the Day! This bird in the family Emberizidae (American sparrows) is found from the extreme south-east of Mexico to Tierra del Fuego, and on the island of Hispaniola. Its vocalizations show large geographical variations and have been extensively studied since the the 1970s.
