Wasp or hornet?

Description:

About the size of my last thumb joint. It found something on the ground and was eating it, I think.

Notes:

Until Project Noah...all flying little things were "bugs" and all flying big things were "birds" unless they lived and were seen by me in water, then they were ducks. Now I actually seem to care more about the variety and differences.
