@MaryOhkwari The same here, an enormous pen with trees and rocks to climb on but still very nervous and obsessive behaviour.
There is this poem 'Der Panter' (the panther) of R.M.Rilke which describes the big cats nicely.
I have to agree with you on the comment about cats in zoos. Even in large enclosures, these creatures always seem disturbed. Working at the Shubie Wildlife Park, which takes great efforts in simulating the animals' environments and diets, I noticed that the only animals that seemed terrifically uncomfortable with their enclosed life were the lynx and bobcat, both of which had very large pens with trees and other things to climb on.
The zoo does strange things to animal, I think especially to cat-like.
However, this lynx had a large and nature-like space.
An amazing climber, tried to get something (mouse?) out of the wall. Did not succeed, but tried for minutes.
