Pale-Headed Rosella

Platycercus adscitus

Description:

A moderate sized parrot with a pale cream head and blue, yellow and black scalloped pluamage and a red rump. It feeds on many types of native seeds, tree fruits and seeds. Like other rosella species they nest in tree hollows.

Habitat:

A native to eastern Australia usually found in open forests, woodlands, forest edges and clearings, as well as urban parks and gardens.

Notes:

This bird was spotted in bushland near my house in QLD. They are very shy and quick birds and I had to trek through the bush quite a bit to snap a picture, as you can see she is keeping a very good eye on me.
