Did you find it in a suburban area or in a rural area?

Amazing. It is an adult male Creobroter. I do not know the species (there are probably people that would know, I will ask). C. gemmatus I was told are dull in color. Your's is dull. Was the mantis small? C. pictipennis is larger and a brighter color.

It was in the wild

Uh oh. Did you find this in the wild or a pet shop? There have not been very many exotic mantis species invasive to the United States. Though Tenodera sinensis/angustipennis, Mantis religiosa, Iris oratoria, Acontista (native or introduced to Florida?), are among the non native species.

That looks a lot like a Flower Mantis. Quite similar to Creobroter gemmatus. Not native but very pretty. I didn't know they had wild populations in the U.S. I haven't found any literature on it and my references do not have them listed. Interesting.
