A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Sceliphron caementarium
A black and yellow mud dauber that landed on the enclosure sign for the African spurred tortoise here at the Independence Ralph Mitchell Zoo. I think mud daubers are really neat insects because to me they're the one wasp that aren't really aggressive. I also feel bad for them, because a lot of insects parasitize these wasps.
Widespread in Canada, the United States, Central America, South Africa and the West Indies, and has been introduced to many Pacific Islands
