Six-Spotted Tiger Beetle

Cicendela sexguttata

Description:

Bright metallic emerald beetle-looking bug.

Habitat:

Wooded section of Hidden Valley Natural Area in the Kansas City, Mo., City limits.

Notes:

This lit down so quickly we didn't have much chance to observe it closely. We also saw one at Maple Woods Natural Area in Kansas City earlier in June. I'd never seen one before and thought they were beautiful. Didn't know what they were at the time.
