Libellula needhami
The animal reaches a length of 45-57 millimeters, 32-39 millimeters away on the abdomen omitted. Young L. needhami and females are both on the face, thorax yellowish brown, and the abdomen. The males color with age up to the thorax sides in a bright red. The abdomen is centrally located a dark line. The legs are completely brown. The hind wings reach a length of 35 to 45 millimeters. Both pairs of wings have an amber or orange front half. The pterostigma is yellow orange and Flügeladerung is down to the Costa black. The Costa is after the nodus to pterostigma towards brighter.
The Needham’s Skimmer can be found in ponds and freshwater or brackish marshes in Georgia’s coastal and inner coastal counties from late March to early October, with a few records inland from the coastal area.
