Small white/small cabbage white

Description:

A small to medium-size butterfly from the Piridae family, with a creamy white upperside and black tips to the forewings. The female (shown here) has two black spots in the center of the forewings.

Habitat:

Open places, woodland, meadowland and mountains to urban areas. Widespread distribution: Europe, North Africa and Asia. Has also been accidentally introduced to North America, Australia and New Zealand. Spotted here in a forest meadow.

Notes:

A pest on pest on cabbages, kale, radish, broccoli, and horseradish.
