Tropidoderus childrenii
Large green stick or leaf insect with orange wings and leafy covers. Not sure what species - maybe Tropidoderus childrenii? Wonderful leaf camouflage made it almost impossible to see on the Eucalypt tree.

Also, it’s a female
It’s a Spurr legged stick insect
Either violet or red winged
I have the same one, been told it’s violent but it’s the same orangey-red colour as yours and I’m pretty sure it’s a red winged
I'm pretty sure it's part of the Didymuria family, maybe Didymuria violences!

fascinating indeed.
@ Martinl - yes, a fascinating bug in my backyard. I haven't seen another like it since that day. I'm still hoping for an ID...
Steve. This spotting is fascinating and bewildering. I cannot find a reference to it anywhere. Tropidoderus group should have full sized wings so I don't think it is that one. Podocanthus has colored wings but orange and not small. What a beauty!
Thanks MT, I just love the leafy details on the wings and wing covers
Oh sorry, you're right.. Children's stick insect!
mantis, mantidae, praying mantis.
