Description:

Herbaceous perennial plant with slender, grass-like leaves and seed heads covered in a fluffy mass of cotton. The cotton mass help the reproductive organs to stay warm during the arctic summer and for seed dispersion in fall.

Habitat:

Arctic tundra meadows; especially acid bogs.
