Tide-pool Scud

Gammarus oceanicus

Description:

Tiny shrimp ranging from pencil lead size to about 3/4 of an inch. The coloration varied from tiny white ones, to these black ones, and some brown.

Habitat:

Saltwater, tide pool.

Notes:

I was rolling rocks along the beach and came across hundreds of these little guys. I assume they are a primary source of food for the shorebirds.
