Blue Dasher

Pachydiplax longipennis

Description:

The Blue Dasher (Pachydiplax longipennis) is a dragonfly of the skimmer family. It is common and widely distributed in the United States.[1] This Blue Dasher is seen on a Lotus Leaf This male's raised abdomen may be a threat display or a response to heat (the obelisk posture). Mature males develop a bluish-white pruinescence on the back of the abdomen and, in western individuals, on the thorax. They display this pruinescence to other males as a threat while defending territories at the edge of the water.[2] Mature male with blue-white abdomen and thorax. Although the species name longipennis means "long wings", the wings are not particularly long. Females do, however, have a short abdomen that makes the wings look longer in comparison.

It means that i am now a state licensed wildlife rehabilitator. I will be rehabilitating sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife, until they are healthy and old enough to be released back into the wild. It's very exciting I studied all on my own without schooling to pass the exam. Im going to get my federal as well so i can rehabilitate migratory birds.

Thanks Tracy. Yes they probably use the antenna in the same way they would use a tall leaf blade as a perch and for surveillance. It is true that they cannot see well.
When I went on the net , I was surprised to see how many people had thought of this.
The fact that the antenna resonates all the time is no myth. It actually does. It resonates at it's tuned frequency picking up radio signals 24/7 even with the radio off.. Whether or not these critters can feel that resonation is beyond me.
Or whether it is the buzz of the antenna that they are attracted to.......

Emma, i a bit about dragonflies liking antenna's i guess they cannot see as well as humans so they go to high places so they can see better, hope that was helpful!

I agree with you. I have photographed a few and am on the look out for more. i love their personalities!! The other day one was right in the middle of a traffic intersection. He buzzed around and then sat on the antenna of a car! They are so attracted to Antennas.!! Do you know the reason?
