Description:

An average sized pond turtle. Colorations mostly yellow & black. Easily identified by range in North America. No other turtle has these markings.

Habitat:

Marshes, waterways.

Notes:

I caught this young Yellow-bellied in a pool along Merchant's Millpond in Sunbury, North Carolina, USA. The last 2 photos are of an adult female laying eggs nearby, taken on the same day.
